We believe in a low stress,
cooperative approach to veterinary care

At SFAH we believe strongly in low stress handling of our patients. Our team has received additional training and certification to make your pet’s experience at our hospital a positive one.

At each visit we will be vigilant for signs of stress and adjust our technique to each individual patient. Sometimes, despite our gentle handling techniques, we are unable to perform a procedure safely and we look at rescheduling the appointment and what we can do differently at the next visit.

If your pet becomes stressed at the vet, please prep for a non-surgical visit by doing the following:

Come hungry!

Instead of allowing your pet to eat a full meal before the appointment, try offering a smaller meal.

Bring your best treats!

If you know your pet enjoys a specific treat at home, bring it to the appointment! Tasty treats are a welcomed distraction to stressed pets. Don’t worry if you are out of stock at home, we’ll have several options to satisfy any palate.

Make sure your pet is set up for success.

Avoid known stressors and triggers prior to the appointment.
